A new addition has joined the condiment series of &CROSS, your go-to online shop for elevating everyday meals: All-purpose Sprinkles Wakon Dukkah.

What is Dukkah?

Originating in Egypt, "Dukkah" is a fragrant condiment made from coarsely crushed nuts and spices. In its homeland, it is a casual, daily staple rather than a rare delicacy. The traditional way to enjoy it is remarkably simple: just dip some bread into olive oil, coat it with Dukkah, and enjoy. It is a beloved breakfast or light snack that effortlessly adds depth and aroma while highlighting the natural flavors of the food.

It is also commonly used as a finishing touch—sprinkled over roasted vegetables, meat, or fish to introduce a delightful crunch and complex flavor profile. From mixing it into yogurt to stirring it into dips, the possibilities are entirely up to you. Rather than overpowering a dish, it plays the perfect supporting role, adding a subtle, sophisticated accent to your daily table.

Based on this traditional Egyptian spice blend, we infused a Japanese soul to create our Wakon Dukkah. Its roots go back to the Akasaka days of our restaurant, MOSS CROSS TOKYO, where it was originally served as a humble accompaniment to white rice for the hotel breakfast.

In response to warm guest feedback saying, "I wish I could enjoy this flavor at home" and "Please put this on sale," we commercialized the blend. After further refining the recipe, it has finally made its highly anticipated comeback.

The secret to its flavor is the rare "Hingya no Shio" (Hingya Salt), crafted using volcanic steam on Aogashima Island, Tokyo. Its mellow yet powerful salinity perfectly accentuates the sweetness of the nuts. Along with the nutty crunch, a sharp touch of Japanese Sansho pepper delivers a refreshing, lingering tingle that instantly stimulates the appetite.

"I Want to Put This on Everything..." Born in a professional kitchen, this one-of-a-kind all-purpose spice elevates Japanese classics like rice balls, chilled tofu, egg dishes, and tempura. It is equally magnificent on salads, pastas, cheeses, fish carpaccio, or mixed with olive oil on toast. You might even discover unexpected pairings—like sprinkling it over vanilla ice cream or dumplings!

Perfect for Souvenirs & Small Gifts

With its stylish bottle design, it makes an ideal present for food lovers or a thoughtful return gift. Pairing it with our other premium condiments creates a truly unique and highly appreciated gourmet gift set.

We hope you enjoy this wonderful blend at your dining table. It will also be available soon at our production workshop, CROSS FOOD LAB.
