An Evening with Château Clinet

Bordeaux, France—. Ronan Laborde, the current owner of the prestigious Château Clinet—a representative estate of the beautiful, UNESCO World Heritage-listed appellation of Pomerol—is set to visit Japan. Joining him as the MC and navigator is Jennifer Julien, a fellow Bordeaux native. Together, they will host a 1-night-only winemaker event, "A Banquet Traveling Through Château Clinet," at MOSS CROSS TOKYO shibuya on Monday, November 18.

This special invitation was realized through the 15-year friendship between CROSS Group representative Inoue and Jennifer. Combined with their long-held shared dream of one day hosting a Bordeaux-Fukuoka collaboration—inspired by the sister-city relationship between Inoue’s hometown of Fukuoka and Bordeaux—this exceptional evening has finally come to life.

Guests are invited to immerse themselves in a rare and exceptional culinary marriage, pairing Château Clinet’s exquisite wines with a specially crafted course menu by MOSS Shibuya, all while listening to Ronan discuss his unique philosophy and approach to winemaking.

Chateau Clinet

A prestigious estate twice selected as "Wine of the Year" by world-renowned wine authorities and awarded a perfect score by The Wine Advocate in 1989. The current owner, Ronan Laborde, is a naturally gifted and courageous leader who consistently takes bold initiative. He began managing the family-owned estate in 2004, following his family's acquisition in 1999. Owning 3 prime parcels coveted by every producer in Pomerol—"Le Grand Vigne," "L’Argile," and "Le Plateau"—the estate practices eco-friendly viticulture. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested using small crates to prevent any crushing. While equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, destemming is still performed entirely by hand. Capitalizing on its boutique scale, the chateau consistently innovates for quality enhancement—actively pursuing significant transformations through an organic approach, including vineyard replanting, winery reconstruction, and distribution reorganization—to continue crafting truly unique, evolving wines.

Jennifer Julien

Born in Bordeaux, Jennifer is an advisor on French gastronomy and culture. Since arriving in Japan in 1997, she has been active across a wide range of fields focused on culinary traditions, working as an NHK reporter, wine promoter, restaurant operations consultant, international coordinator, and cultural ambassador. Inducted into the Commanderie du Bontemps, the Jurade de Saint-Émilion, and the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne, she actively promotes the charm of French wines.
